| The History of Le Kiosk |
|
The present owners established Le Kiosk in 1972 and over the last 3 decades have developed it into one of Sydney's most charming and loved restaurants.
1860 saw a time when Shelly Beach was a popular meeting place for local fishermen. They netted the beach by day and enjoyed a 'cleansing ale' by night at the Hotel, which in those days stood on the Le Kiosk site.
Its popularity caused the wrath of neighbours, who are rumored to be responsible for burning it to the ground in 1870. Fishing huts and sheds lingered on until the turn of the century, when a caretaker’s cottage was built featuring a kiosk to serve beach patrons.
In 1928, a tea room was built which is the front of the restaurant as it stands today.
The present owners established Le Kiosk in 1972 and over the last 3 decades have developed it into one of Sydney's most charming and loved restaurants.
We welcome you to come and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, fine food and friendly professional service that continue a long tradition of hospitality on picturesque Shelly Beach.
